In what officers have labelled a “targeted attack”, up to 10 shots were pumped into the windows of the Gordon Street address about 10.30pm.

No one was home at the time.

Detectives had not arrested anyone for the crime on Sunday afternoon, but Inspector Gary Williams said several leads were being pursued.

“We believe at this stage between five and 10 shots were fired,” he said.

“But we’re still making inquiries.”

Inspector Williams said police had received “conflicting information” about exactly what occurred.

Police have spoken to the occupant of the home, however, and CCTV footage of the street has formed part of the investigation.

A light grey sedan was seen on Dry Street – adjacent to Gordon Street – about 10.30pm.

Finding the vehicle and its driver will also be a priority for detectives.

“Any information the public has in regard to… a light grey sedan… Obviously information can be given anonymously via Crime Stoppers.”

Inspector Williams said the specifics of the incident – like how many people were involved and how many weapons were used – were still being investigated.

“We believe the persons involved are known to one another,” he said.

“We’re unsure at this stage (what the motive is).”

Detectives left the scene just after 10.30am on Sunday.

A concerned neighbour – a young mother – said she heard the shots go off.

“I heard four bangs,” she said.

“It’s a really quiet street. It’s pretty scary.”

The woman – who did not wish to be named – said there were no warning signs and it took a while for her to realise the bangs were actually gunshots.

Inspector Williams said Gordon Street residents had nothing to fear.

“This is not a common occurrence,” he said.

“We’ve had some good cooperation from members of the public in regard to this matter, but we don’t believe there is a general cause for alarm in this regard.”
