Darren Pettet’s men have endured a long, difficult, but often rewarding season, culminating in a fine display in Saturday’s semi, only to go down by the narrow four point margin in what was one of the most entertaining and physical games of the season.
The Bulls move on to face the Wingham Tigers in next Saturday’s elimination minor semi to be played at the Wingham Sporting Complex.
Wingham were comfortably beaten by the Port City Breakers to the tune of 36 points to 24 in Sunday’s major semi final at Wingham.
This sets up what should be a great clash at Port Macquarie’s regional stadium next Sunday, as minor premiers the Port Macquarie Sharks do battle with the Port City side in a tasty local derby to determine the first side into the grand final.
The weekend’ s results have also guaranteed that the 2016 Group 3 grand final will be held at Port Macquarie on Sunday, September 18.
The Hawks ladies league tag side have also bowed out of the premiership race, going down to the Old Bar Pirates in golden point after the sides were locked up at eight a piece after the full time siren.
The Pirates managed to score a try in the second period of golden point in a quality match played partly in driving rain.
