Posters of both the Labor and National parties erected along The Lakes Way have been stolen and defaced.
Labor candidate Peter Alley estimates about 50 advertising posters have either been stolen or damaged from within the Lyne electorate.
Mr Alley said his party, like those of his opponents had permission from MidCoast Council to legally erect the signs.
“I am very upset that our democracy is being attacked,” Mr Alley said.
“People should cherish our freedom; that is the great thing about our society.”
Mr Alley said he did not know who was behind the theft and vandalism, but his team had sited people damaging posters.
