REPEAT offender William Clifford Foley from Smiths Lake has received a nine-month suspended jail sentence, ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and fined $4000 for illegal fishing activities.

The 51-year-old commercial fisherman received the nine-month suspended jail sentence for possessing 17 undersize blue swimmer crabs and six female blue swimmer crabs that were carrying eggs.
He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and fined $4000. The matter was dealt with in Forster Local Court last month.
Fisheries officers found the repeat offender in possession of the crabs on Smiths Lake last year, after a concerned member of the public reported suspected illegal fishing activity.
