Shelter president Julie Brady said the first resident arrived on January 11, and since then more have come and gone.
She expected the average stay-time would be about three months before residents were moved into transitional housing.
“Staff will work intensively with them and build them up in the areas they need so they can get back in the community,” Ms Brady said.
Ms Brady will now focus on a funding plan to make the shelter sustainable.
The women’s shelter is currently looking for an automatic family sized station wagon, hatchback or sedan.
