This year a record 374 schools entered into the competition. The girls played 9 games culminating in finishing, the runners up to Avalon Primary School.
Along the way the girls became, Manning Hunter and NWNSW champions. The girls came from behind on two occasions to beat teams causing a boilover in defeating Caves Beach in the Hunter Final whom had not had a goal scored against them in regular time in two years. The girls won 3-1.
The team’s goalkeepers were outfield players but both shared the load without any dramas, well done Elizabeth and Kyra. The backline protected the goalie magnifically and prior to the finals had conceded one goal in eight games with Rosie and Ellie the rocks in central defence being supported by Indi, Layla, Eva and Elizabeth.
Our midfield was controlled by Chloe who did a wonderful job linking the back to the front with great distribution. She was supported with great vigor from Mariah and Sophia up front. The’ Simon’ family Indi, Kyra and Akaysha were in charge of the attack and did a fine job with Mia chipping in for the odd goal. Eden was the versatile, Miss Fixit playing in numerous positions and slipping in perfectly where ever she playedAnd a big thankyou to Brook who filled in for the final two games.
I would also like to thank Tuncurry Forster’s coaching director. Johnathon Newman for assistance during the Finals.
