Great Lakes FM 101.5, based in Tuncurry, won the Team Volunteer of the Year award for the Mid North Coast region at the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards held in Port Macquarie last month. The station is now a state finalist for the award.
Station manager Andrew Farr travelled to Sydney for a presentation at Parliament House recently where he discovered that the station is also a state finalist for the Excellence in Volunteer Management award.
“Achieving finalist status in not just one but two separate categories is no mean feat and makes me proud to be part of such a terrific team,” Mr Farr said.
The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards were launched by the Centre for Volunteering in 2007 and recognise the outstanding efforts of the two million plus volunteers in NSW.
State awards winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Sydney this Friday (December 5).
