The 23-year-old is among 52 tertiary students to have received a scholarship from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) Foundation this year.
The scholarships provide $5000 towards full-time study and $2500 for part-time study to assist students from rural areas.
While she is now in her final year of a veterinary biology and veterinary science honours degree at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Georgia’s love of animals began at an early age.
Her honours project focuses on biserrula photosensitivity, specifically in sheep. Other university
students from the Mid North Coast to of received scholarships include Kate Kingston from Gloucester and Laura Bennett from Woolgoolga.
RAFoundation chairman Michael Milner said a record number of scholarships were awarded this year.
“The RAS Foundation is committed to helping rural Australians achieve their potential through education and training. Each year we are impressed with the quality of applicants and inspired by their journeys,” Mr Milner said.
“We are extremely proud to be assisting such a large number of rural-minded students and look forward to supporting them as they work towards achieving their career goals.”
The RASF is a philanthropic foundation which seeks to encourage educational opportunity and foster vibrant and sustainable rural and regional communities by supporting quality youth and community programs.
