Cardio tennis is a high energy tennis workout that will have you and your friends picking up a racquet and heading to the Forster Tennis Club for a free trial session.
It doesn’t matter if you play regularly or have never hit a ball before, cardio tennis is open to people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels.
Forster Tennis Club’s head teaching professional and facility manager Jaime McDonagh became interested in bringing the program to the FTC after seeing its success in Australia and other parts of the world.
Participants will play to music and wear heart rate monitors during the workout to achieve target heart rate for different age levels as recent studies have shown that a person will work 33 per cent harder and their endurance will improve over time by 15 per cent while working out to music.
The hour includes hitting low compression or regular tennis balls and incorporates agility ladders, skipping ropes, and sideline drills (cardio bursts) to keep the players moving.
The coach and music will direct the players throughout the one hour session.
Tennis racquets will be provided and participants need to wear comfortable clothing and sport shoes.
Jaime McDonagh is pleased to announce that Ariane Ceccato will host the full program in term two of the school year.
Apart from being an orthopedic doctor Ariane is a B-licensed German trained tennis coach with a diverse background in sport that has included competitive swimming, figure skating and a lifelong passion for competitive tennis.
Now a full time mum, tennis player and fitness advocate Ariane is a highly motivated and energetic coach at Forster Tennis Club.
“I want to deliver a quality tennis program that emphasises health and fitness rather than the technical approach,” Ariane said.
“Acknowledging the benefits of group fitness classes I’m very enthusiastic about being the coach of this program to help participants achieve their goals.”
There will be two free cardio tennis trial sessions on offer that are available to both members and non club members on Wednesday April 18 from 6pm to 7pm and on Saturday April 21 from 9am to 10am. All spots must be reserved as space is limited so please call Jaime McDonagh on 6554 9120.
