The interruption, expected to extend from 9am-2pm, will affect properties along Cowper Street, north of Urquharts Lane.
MidCoast Council infrastructure and engineering services director, Rob Scott, said the interruption was associated with the Cowper Street road-widening project.
"An important part of the Cowper Street project involves relocating and replacing the existing water main," Mr Scott said.
"This outage will allow our contractors to get in and connect up some of the new pipework," he said.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will endeavour to get the water supply back on as soon as possible.

The Cowper Street project will see around 1.4 kilometres of the busy Stroud thoroughfare widened and resurfaced, with curb and guttering added near the intersection with Mill Creek Road.
The project began in August and was expected to be completed by early 2022.
Customers who experience any issues as a result of Thursday's interruption are urged to contact the MidCoast Council customer service team on 7955 7777.
