During the four-week shutdown MidCoast Council took advantage of the stay-at-home orders to undertake a raft of spring renovations on parks and reserves for the coming sporting season.
Grounds and facilities across the region have been rejuvenated by operations teams with a range of procedures undertaken throughout the last few weeks and continuing for the rest of the month.
"This is a great time for us to get in and give our parks and reserves some attention without disrupting anyone," MidCoast Council community spaces executive manager, Daniel Aldridge said.
"We've received some really great feedback from community members and representatives of local sporting clubs, about the state of our playing fields this year and this work will allow us to keep building on those good conditions."
Activities being undertaken include spraying herbicides to control bindii and broadleaf weed species, aerating and slicing the soil to help with compaction and fertilising the turf.

The Y Taree was one of the first facilities on the list for a spring clean with the team targeting the exterior of the building, while Wingham's gardens have been getting some TLC with crews pruning and mulching over the last couple of weeks.
"Playground repairs of defects found during our latest park asset Inspection are underway as well as pressure cleaning of the equipment," Mr Aldridge said.
"The old playgrounds at Tuncurry Beach and Old Bar had been removed and site works have begun for the new playgrounds which we expect to have finished in early December."
Other additions and improvements include the construction of a new fish cleaning table at Coomba Park, garden work along Manning Street, Taree and the installation of new planter boxes.
If you have a park or playground that needs attention, report it to council via the report and request page on the website https://www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/Council/Report-Request or contact customer service on 7955 7777 to have it added to the works list.
"With so many parks and reserves, we appreciate community feedback to help us plan our works."
