A 66-year-old man was airlifted to Port Macquarie Hospital following an accident on the Pacific Highway at Rainbow Flat this morning, Thursday, September 16.

Just before 9.30am Ambulance NSW requested assistance from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Rainbow Flat following the reports of a serious two vehicle accident.
The man, an occupant of one of the vehicles, had suffered serious chest injuries.
Ambulance paramedics and emergency services attended and began treatment.
The man was transported to Taree Airport where he was met by the helicopter critical care medical team.
He received further treatment and was stabilised before being flown direct to the Port Macquarie in a stable condition.
The occupants of the second vehicle were transported to the Manning Base Hospital for observation.
