Small businesses have once again been dealt a devastating blow as they continue to grapple with the continuing lockdown and an uncertain future.
However, for some retail outlets the click and connect concept has given them some relief with online sale increasing by up to 30 per cent.
When the region region re-emerges from hibernation, residents are being urged and encouraged to think local; have morning tea in a local cafe, dine at a local restaurant, buy that special outfit from local clothing and shoe outlets, and why not take a local holiday - there's plenty of accommodation venues to choose from
Manning Shoes director, John Mansour said without a crystal ball he could not say what the long term damage would be for local business operators.
Mr Mansour, who has five outlets in Forster, Taree and Port Macquarie described the ongoing lockdown as financially uncomfortable.
He said many businesses had been caught off guard when the government announced the State-wide lockdown in early August.
"Yesterday was just another kick in the guts," he said.
He said many of his fellow business owners operating along Wharf Street, Forster had begun putting new stock on their shelves in preparation for the coming spring-summer season, stock which which has to be paid for in many instances.
On a positive note, on-line shoe sales had increased by 20-30 per cent.
"We now have locals shopping on-line which is fantastic; there is genuine support from the community to support us."
Forster Tuncurry Business Chamber president, Megan Lewis said chamber would continue to support local business by hosting online monthly events

"Understandably business owners are frustrated and disappointed by the extension of the lockdown period," Ms Lewis said.
"The current business conditions are extremely trying and they are taking their toll," she said.
"We are in conversation with other chambers from across the region and are discussing how we can advocate on behalf of the business community with respect to ongoing lockdowns.
"In the meantime, the road map laid out by the NSW Government yesterday does provide us with direction and that is some form of progress."
Ms Lewis said chamber's online monthly events provided both information and the opportunity for people to do business together.
"It's important we stay connected so we can support each other."
MidCoast Council mayor, David West said he supported the State government's stance on lockdowns.
"We have such divided arguments on lockdowns," Cr West said.
Cr West said council was working with local business chambers across the Mid Coast LGA promoting the uptake of the Bigger Backyards initiative, which he believed could assist some local enterprises.
The project has been designed to help the region get back on its feet following an unprecedented period of natural disasters and the global pandemic.
Cr West urged the community to look out for one-another and to check up on their neighbours, especially following the lockdown extension.
Big 4 Great Lakes, Forster Tuncurry has embraced the philosophy of one day at a time, making sure they are abiding by the health regulations and processes.
"From our point of view the safety of our guests, team and community are of the utmost importance," general manager, Nick Jacobs said.
"We were disappointed by the way this was delivered; the press conference was confusing and unclear."
Mr Jacobs was referring to the government's reference to the Mid North Coast and Mid Coast.
"And, many of us are still confused."
"Do we have to wait a week from yesterday, is it a week from Saturday or is it 14 days from when the Booral infection was identified?"
The popular caravan and camping ground has cancelled all forward bookings at this stage up to September 17.
