The Our Soundtrack Our Stories campaign launched on Thursday and calls for companies and businesses to support Australian artists by playing their music.
"How great would it be if we heard Australian music in our supermarkets, banks, in our offices, on ads and on hold for the next few months," the campaign reads. "Our moments deserve our music."
The campaign only began last week when River, whose real name is Holly Rankin, called on Channel 7 to use Australian music during its coverage of the Tokyo Olympics, instead of playing US and UK artists.
Channel Seven host Edwina Bartholomew and Channel Nine's Karl Stefanovic and Brooke Boney then climbed on board, as River's post went viral among Australian musicians.
The likes of Something For Kate, The Living End, Kate Miller-Heidke, Birds Of Tokyo, Ben Lee and Newcastle's Catherine Britt have joined the Our Soundtrack Our Stories campaign.
The COVID-19 pandemic has decimated the Australian music industry over the past 18 months, destroying touring opportunities and drying up revenue.
It's hoped an increase in Australian music being played in public will lead to an increase in royalties and exposure for the struggling industry.
