The pump station will enable sewerage to be diverted from a number of nearby stations and transferred directly to the Hallidays Point Sewerage Treatment Plan via a new rising main.
At the same time, the new station will allow for future growth and development in the area
"This will reduce the volume of sewage the existing pump stations are required to process, giving our system more local capacity," MidCoast Council infrastructure and engineering services director, Rob Scott said.

"As a result, we won't need to upgrade these pump stations to keep up with future growth in the area and there'll also be less chance of any sewage overflows occurring during wet weather events."
Mr Scott said a permanent generator would also be installed at the new pump station to protect against power outages and an odour control system would be put in to ensure the community didn't experience any unwanted odours.
While the work will take place close to Black Head Road, there will be minimal disruption to traffic or the community.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2022, weather permitting.
