The health and safety of competitors, staff, volunteers and the regional community is of the utmost importance, event organisers said.
"The team understands that this is an extremely frustrating outcome for all athletes, event partners, key stakeholders and the local Port Macquarie-Hastings community," Ironman Australia said in a statement on Tuesday morning (July 20).

"The team looks forward to returning to the region in 2022, with Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie to take place on May 1."
