Police and the SES will be conducting a search in the Pindimar area today, Tuesday, May 4 for missing local, 63-year-old Allan Bentley.
Police have set-up a command post at 326 Pindimar Road.
The police helicopter and police trail bikes have been called in to assist in the search while other marked police and SES will be searching bush tracks.
If you have any information that may assist please call into the command post.
EARLIER:
Police are appealing for assistance to locate a man missing from the Tea Gardens/Hawkes Nest region.
Sixty-three-year-old Allan Bentley was last seen around noon on Monday, April 26 in the Tea Gardens area.
He was reported missing to officers from Port Stephens Hunter Police District, who began an investigation into his whereabouts.
Police are concerned for his welfare after he failed to attend pre-arranged appointments and his regular game of lawn bowls on Saturday, May 1 at Hexham, which is out of character.
Mr Bentley is described as being of caucasian appearance, about 179cm tall, of medium build with short brown and grey hair and a beard.
It is believed he may be driving a white coloured Holden combo van, with NSW registration UQG-146, which has 'catering' written on the side.
Anyone who may have information regarding Mr Bentley's whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
