Held on the Gold Coast on April 14-18, Nash had qualified for a breathtaking six events.

But, the Rainbow Flat teenager made the decision to put all his efforts into three breast-stroke events, the 50, 100 and 200 metre swims.

"What a masterstroke that was," his proud dad, Darren said.

First off the block was the 100m breast-stroke, completed in the fastest qualifying time and a personal best (PB) of 1:02.58.

Securing lane four for the final, Nash took gold just a fraction slower than his heat in 1:02.98

"Absolutely outstanding executed race plan from Nash: what a thrill for Nash to receive his first medal which just happened to be the colour gold," Darren said.

His second event, the 50m breast-stroke, Nash swum another outstanding race to record yet another PB, just being pipped for gold by five one hundredth of a second and a well deserved silver.

Ranked ninth for the 200m breast-stroke, Nash qualified second fastest for the final in a field stacked with some of the country's best swimmers.

"After the results Nash had already achieved, we thought, anything can happen here.

"But, Nash had to find a couple of seconds from his heat swim which was already a personal best of 2:19.51.

"Well excitement plus is an understatement."

According to an Darren, Nash begun brilliantly from lane five to lead until lap three where he was back in third spot on the last lap.

"Nash swum the race of his life and with all the grit and determination he could master in his six foot four inch body, he overpowered a quality field of elite swimmers to win another gold and another personal best time 2:17.58.

"Nash found the extra two seconds he needed to win and that's what champions do."

Nash is now a double Australian champion; neatly sandwiched between the double gold is a shiny silver medal.

"Nash wouldn't have achieved these great results without the outstanding coaching of Peter Sanders and Adel Gregory and a special mention to Jess Wilkes who stepped up and helped Nash with his swim training and gym work."

Nash is now the best performed National swimmer to come out of Forster under the coaching staff of Pete and Adel, Darren said.

Nash is now focusing on the Australian Olympic Swimming Trials in Adelaide in June.
