Council has plans to rezone land on the corner of Lake and McIntosh streets from R3 medium density residential to R4 high density residential increasing the permitted building height from 12 to 30 metres and to remove the floor space ratio controls over the site.
The total combined site area of the proposed rezoning is approximately 9015m2 and includes the Gallipoli Court self-contained holiday apartments, the Sunseeker Motor Inn, the Caltex Service Station on the intersection of Lake and Macintosh streets and the council owned Lake Lane.
MidCoast Council has extended the exhibition period for the proposed area with submissions now closing on Friday, March 5.
The exhibition period began on December 10.
We previously held an information session about the proposal in December last year and it was clear that it was important for the community to be given another opportunity to voice any concerns and chat to our planners and the consultants about the proposal.

Council will be hold another information day at the Forster council office, to allow members of the community to chat to staff and consultants about the proposal.
The objective of the planning proposal is to change the planning controls over the site to allow for future high density residential development.
"We previously held an information session about the proposal in December last year and it was clear that it was important for the community to be given another opportunity to voice any concerns and chat to our planners and the consultants about the proposal," MidCoast Council land use planning acting manager, Gerard Tuckerman said.
"This next information day will be run in 30 minute sessions throughout the day starting at 10.30am and finishing at 6.30pm, with a limit of 10 people per session to allow everyone to have their say on the matter and ensure we abide by COVID-19 regulations."
