The total combined site area of the proposed rezoning is approximately 9015m2 and includes:
- Gallipoli Court self-contained holiday apartments;
- Sunseeker Motor Inn;
- Caltex Service Station on the intersection of Lake and Macintosh streets, and
- Council owned 10m wide (unformed) Lake Lane (at the rear of Gallipoli Court and the Sunseeker Motor Inn).
"The objective of the planning proposal is to change the planning controls over the site to allow for future high density residential development," MidCoast Council liveable communities director, Paul De Szell said.
"The proposed rezoning would amend the Great Lakes Local Environmental Plan 2014 to rezone the land from R3 medium density residential to R4 high density residential, increase the permitted building height from 12m to 30m and remove the floor space ratio controls over the subject site."
More information on the proposal, an explanatory note and minutes from the council meeting can be viewed on the MidCoast Council Have Your Say page.
Submissions close on Friday, February 19.
