Police had earlier that day received a report the man, who was wanted on a number of offences, was visiting the Tuncurry Street, Tuncurry residence.
After searching the premises, the 22-year-old Raymond Terrace man was located in a clothing cupboard hiding under clothes.
He was arrested, taken to Forster Police Station and charged with taking and driving a conveyance, larceny, robbery armed with an offensive weapon, stealing from a person and drive dangerously and not stopping after being indicated by police during a pursuit.
He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court today, Tuesday, January 12.
On Sunday morning, January 10 police pulled over a motor vehicle driving along Commerce Street, Taree.
A 35-year-old Wingham man was seated in the rear passenger side of the vehicle, with a backpack in the footwell where he was seated. The passenger told police he owned backpack.
Police searched the backpack and located what appeared a wooden device.
The item appeared to be electronic controlled device such as a cattle prod or home-made taser.
The passenger admitted that the located device was his.
The man was charged with possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and would appear at Taree Local Court on February 23.
