Ross finished ahead of Zeb Watts, his older brother Shane Cadden, and Zeb's older brother Nat Watts in what turned out to be a distinctly family-orientated battle across the club's eight rounds of competition.
The club named all of its division champions at its end-of-year presentation at the Pacific Palms Recreation Club on Sunday, after initial plans to hold an informal tag team event and presentation at North Boomerang Beach were abandoned because of unfavourable conditions.
"The weather and the swell and the wind and everything was terrible, so we had it at the Reccy," club president Adam Salt said.
Mr Salt said while open men's had long been regarded as the club's blue ribbon division, he was particularly proud of its female numbers, with enough competitors to run both an open women's and junior girls division each month.
"We've probably got one of the strongest contingent of women in the whole area," he said.
"Some clubs struggle to find enough women to even put a heat together."
The open women's division was particularly competitive, with Charlize Everitt outpointing current NSW over 35s champion Mel Bartz, Leila Salt and Elkie Wilson.
Leila also took out the junior girls division and was named junior club champion for the year.
Mr Salt said the club was very fortunate to only miss two rounds of competition because of the pandemic.
"In light of what everyone went through this year, we were pretty lucky," he said.
"We had good waves all year."
He believed the future was looking bright for the club given the amount of young talent coming through and he hoped Boomerang Beach would be able to make an impact at the Australian Boardriders Battle in the coming years.
"The goal is in the next three years to make it to the main event at Newcastle and I think we can do that with the young guys we have coming through," Mr Salt said.
The club has narrowly missed out on qualifying for the national final at Newcastle over the last two years, losing out by one place at the regional qualifier in Coffs Harbour in 2019 and bowing out in the semi finals this year.
The club will begin its 2021 season on Sunday, February 21.
