You're cruising along the road, everything's rosy then you glance in your rear vision mirror and there's another car only centimetres behind you.

Your mood immediately changes from happy and contented to annoyed, possibly worried, even frightened.
Tailgaters in my opinion are one of the most annoying types of drivers on the road and an indication of poor driving knowledge.
On a more factual note, tailgating is highly dangerous..
The tailgaters reaction time is virtually nil.
They have no vision further up the road for possible incidents and it's highly illegal.
It will cost tailgaters $457 and three demerit points if police catch them.
Now I know I have banged on about this before, but in the Manning Great Lakes where I live it is a major problem.
One major offender, would you believe are P-platers, many who have just passed their driving tests and got their licences.
The knowledge is obviously in one ear and out the other.
To tailgaters - think of other motorists and what you are doing and allow the three second gap.
Your likelihood of a rear end collision will be greatly reduced and you might just save yourself $457 and three demerit points.
A call to local police PLEASE, PLEASE start enforcing the tailgating rules and book the offenders.
To drivers who might have somebody filling your mirrors stay cool and pull over to let them pass if it is worrying you.
