Late last month Quota International in America voted to dissolve an an international organisation forcing clubs throughout the world to face major decisions on their future.
Following the announcement Quota International of Forster Tuncurry Inc members voted unanimously to continue as an independent community service organisation, retaining name - as incorporated in NSW - and the Quota logo.
Quota Forster-Tuncurry has been a generous donor to charities and not-for-profit organisations throughout the region, contributing more than $20,000 annually.
Benefitting from this generosity have been Hunter Medical Research Institute, support group, Early Connections Tuncurry, education scholarships to Great Lakes College students, assistance for primary school students and many more.
At the same time Quota is well known throughout the Great Lakes for its sale of daffodils and merchandise during the annual Daffodil Day fundraiser, collecting more than $4000 for the Cancer Council.
However, fundraising efforts and community service endeavours have been curtailed this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
But, this glitch has not put a stop to members continuing to meet twice monthly, enjoying fellowship and welcoming new members.
