In our area surrounded by beautiful beaches, iconic lakes and waterways, it is an integral part of growing up in this area for children to experience the nippers program ensuring that they stay safe in and around water.
Operating under a series of different names, the juniors or nippers in Forster has been an important part of Forster Surf Life Saving Club since its opening day in 1925.
Surf life saving clubs create and develop programs for their juniors which suit the needs of their members and their beach conditions.
Some of the lessons kids learn, are keeping safe at the beach, surf awareness, beach sprinting, board paddling, dolphin diving, spotting a rip, first aid and making friends.
Parents and carers need only find a club near them and sign their child up to the program.
All surf clubs in this area are starting their nippers program at this time.
It could save your child's life.
Nippers is a fun way for children aged five to under 14 years to enjoy the beach in a safe environment.
The junior development program is designed to ensure children have fun at the beach while participating in lessons that will give them a pathway to becoming a fully rounded participant in both lifesaving and sport as well as being part of an organisation that has served the Australian community for more than 100 years.
