A cup full of talent and pzazz also help.
Just two weeks ago, and in the middle of a pandemic and worst recession to hit the country in more than three decades, 23-year-old Grace took the plunge and started a catering business.
"It's still very exciting," Grace said.
Grace's entry into catering was purely happenstance.
"I accidently fell into it," she said.
Grace had been working in a cafe when the regular supplier was one day unable to provide the usual menu of cakes, quiches, lasagnes and muffins.
I'll do that, Grace enthusiastically offered the cafe owner before ringing her mum in a panic admitting she had now idea what to do.
Mum's advice was to Google recipes, and the rest they say is history.
Just like all foodies, Grace loves her work, her food and creating unique tastes and experiences.
"I don't feel like I am working; I love it.
"It is almost therapeutic; I love being creative; it makes my heart flutter, it is so rewarding."
Grace's new venture includes arranging antipasto platters filled with locally produced, sourced and prepared fresh fruit, biscuits, cheeses, savory meats, dips and treats.
The sweet and savory platters, fashioned in three sizes of gift boxes, are ideal for picnics, afternoon work drinks or any occasion, Grace said.
Grace has crammed a lot into her working life since graduating from Great Lakes College Tuncurry campus.
After completing a diploma in event management and traineeship with the HMAS Albatross in Nowra, Grace moved north to the Gold Coast, back south to Wollongong before travelling west to work in one of the country's oldest and remotest iron ore mines on Koolan Island.
Her stint off the Western Australia coast was followed by 18 months at The Solomon Hub open-cut iron ore mine, located around 60 kilometres north of Tom Price before returning home to Forster.
