James has been in braces since his youth before being confined to a wheelchair 24 years ago.
He was presented with an award that read: "No one can imagine what a challenge it is to be confined to a wheelchair for all those years and still be able to smile and have a joke."

Born in 1934, James first came to Forster to live with his sister in 1996 before becoming a resident of Kularoo Gardens 15 years ago.
He said the understanding and care he received for his condition at the centre was exceptional.
