Bulahdelah Central School held its annual spelling bee during Education Week 2020, with students coming from every corner of the school to bravely face their peers and the formidable English language.
English teacher Karen Chapman said the competitors were carefully selected after a challenging spelling trials process decided the representatives from each class.
She praised the students for their efforts to correctly spell words such as 'quadrangle', 'slaughter' and 'rhythm'.
"Every word was met with a clear determination to get it right," Ms Chapman said.
"A great effort was shown by all and a big well done goes to the contestants and audience for their excellence in spelling and their support of each other."
