The licensee of a Tuncurry hotel has been issued with a $1000 penalty infringement notice following an investigation into alleged breaches of COVID-19 Public Health Orders on the weekend.

Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District attended the Manning Street premises on Saturday, August 8 and identified a number of potential breaches.
In particular, a 21st birthday that had been booked for a group of 10 was seen to have numerous more people in attendance.

In addition, social distancing guidelines were not being followed, particularly in the pub's gaming room.
Following further inquiries, the licensee was issued with a $1000 penalty infringement notice for fail to comply with noticed direction on Tuesday, August 11.
Investigations are ongoing into the planned birthday party.
