Playing in front of empty seats due to COVID-19 restrictions, Vicki Rayner, Julie Middleton, Pam Coleman and Sarah Boddington led from start to finish as they accounted for their more fancied Lake Cathie rivals, 22-16.
"We went into the game with no great expectations but I was quietly confident we'd go well as the team had really gelled in recent times and there was no real pressure on us to win," skipper Sarah Boddington said.
Boddington was referring to the fact that her team was comprised of relatively new bowlers aiming for their first ever State Championship finals.
"What these girls lacked in experience was certainly overcome by their enthusiasm and desire to be part of a happy and winning team," she said.
"This is not a team of champions, rather than a champion team and I'm extremely proud of their efforts which as you can see resulted in a great victory."
The win complimented an already great season for the Tuncurry Beach Women's Bowling Club, which will have representation at the NSW State Championships in Tamworth later this year in the Singles (Sarah Boddington), Open Pairs (Pam Coleman and Sarah Boddington), Senior Pairs (Trish Wilson and Sue Thomas) and the Fours.
