Four incidents have been reported so far but police believe there may have been similar incidents that haven't been reported yet.
The reported incidents took place in Bent, Manning and Parkes streets.
Yellow spray paint was used on each occasion, causing damage to both building structures and motor vehicles.
Among the targets was a Nissan Navara utility that was parked on Bent Street.
It was tagged with the numbers 2428 across the driver's side doors sometime between 2pm Sunday, May 17 and 7am the following morning.
A Facebook post from the owner, a resident of Tuncurry, revealed that it was a company vehicle with Queensland plates.
She believed it was targeted because the offender/s mistakenly assumed the owner was flouting the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Anyone with information regarding who might be responsible for the malicious acts is encouraged to contact Forster Police Station on 6555 1299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
