"We are an economy and region that is largely geared to welcoming visitors to support many of our businesses and the COVID-19 pandemic means that our businesses are needing local support even more right now," MidCoast Council liveable communities director, Paul De Szell said.
Council is working closely with business chambers from across the region, the NSW Business Chamber, Destination NSW, Destination North Coast and Regional Development Australia in providing support and advice to local businesses.

Alongside this work, council is asking the community to find ways to support local businesses, many of which are finding creative ways to continue delivering services during the current situation.
"There are a range of local businesses diversifying, particularly in the restaurant and café space, with takeaway and home deliveries.
"We are aware many other service providers are doing business differently too.
"It is a really tough time for our local businesses, and we all want to be able to support them where we can.
"We encourage everyone who can to support local businesses by using their online services or consider purchasing gift vouchers for future use."
A new Be Kind to Business page has been added to the Barrington Coast Business Hub providing details of businesses which are doing new things or alternating ways of working to ensure they can continue taking care of local residents.
Business can email marketing@midcoast.nsw.gov.au to have their details added to the list.
Council facilities adapting
Council services that were required to close their doors are busy developing new ways to reach customers too.
"The Manning Regional Art Gallery team has reached out since its closure to its extensive network of local community groups, arts networks and artists to see how we can support them during this time," Mr De Szell said.
The gallery is adjusting to the current environment and will continue to support the community by curating online resources, and together with MidCoast Libraries and MidCoast Assist, is exploring alternative delivery mechanisms for public programs and holding online projects.
The team at Manning Entertainment Centre is working on rescheduling performances and processing refunds for shows.
Anyone who has booked tickets for a cancelled show is being contacted personally to ensure they are aware of their options.
Even though Visitor Centres have closed, the tourism team continues to share resources to support local businesses, and are working on projects including developing a new tourism marketing campaign, website and undertaking a visitor services review, ready to bounce back when non-essential travel restrictions are lifted.
