Not-for-profit and charity organisations seeking funding for local projects are encouraged to apply for a grant from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation in the next funding round which opens March 24.
Charitable Foundation executive officer, Graham Batten, is encouraging all eligible community-based not-for-profit organisations who are seeking funding for a project or initiative to make their submission before the funding round closes.
"This year we are looking to fund projects that take an innovative, but local approach addressing important community issues," Mr Batten said.
"We know that local charities understand their community best and the Charitable Foundation wants to help those organisations make their ideas for positive change a reality.
"Our goal is to support projects that help to rewrite the future for people who are disadvantaged, marginalised or isolated and also support social opportunity in our regional communities."
Twice a year the Charitable Foundation provides approximately $800,000 in funding for projects across regional NSW.
"We encourage local charities to put forward their grass-roots projects that address key social issues across the Charitable Foundation's three funding focus areas of health, youth and social outcomes.
"Each successful project is selected for its ability to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people and build healthy, safe and resilient local communities."
Funding submissions open March 24 and close May 5, 2020. All applications are made via the Charitable Foundation's online portal accessed via the website.
To be eligible for funding, a group must be endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Type 1 Deductible Gift Recipient and hold Tax Concession Charity status, be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission, and be a not-for-profit organisation which is charitable at law, and a legal entity such as an incorporated association of corporation.
