A number of players who took part in the recent and very successful State 70s championships at Port Macquarie will head to the country music capital to make their latest hit and scoring chart for their town or area.
Teams from Mid North Coast, Quirindi, Combined Tamworth/New England and Hunter/Central Coast will play matches on the iconic Tamworth No 1 Oval.
This has been the scene of many great cricket battles over the years.
Many of the players playing in this event have fond memories of playing here well before they entered their 'Peter Pan' days.
They will be digging into their grey cells to grab all their past best as they step onto the hallowed turf for yet another stint.
Games will begin at 10am and 4pm, so the venue will have creams aplenty there doing their best and entertaining any shoppers in the nearby precinct who wish to see 'the gentlemen's game' being played by gentlemen.
There'll be some ready to rip right in as they prepare for playing in NSW 60s or 70s squads at the Cooper-Findlay Cup (CFC) against Queensland, also in Tamworth and nearby, in early April.
The Mid North Coast Sharks are keen to bite back after being beaten in the State 70s semis by Tamworth.
While some areas aren't represented, players from across the State jump in to help their mates from other areas and there's always a ring-in here and there, busting for a game.
With a follow-up 67s event in Armidale in March, those involved in the April CFC will be primed and ready for the Queensland hordes as they bus down from north of the border.
And those who aren't will be readying for the next local battle or perhaps gearing up for an overseas trip to the World Golden Oldies in Harrowgate (Yorkshire) in August.
Numerous members of all sides are making their way to the home of cricket as they continue to be part of the fastest growing echelon of the country's favourite summer past time.
Veterans Cricket - if you're not yet involved, gear up. You'll love it.
