"We need to have a good look at it so that it is clear in our minds," Len Roberts said.

"And, I think it should be one-way," Cr Roberts said.

"We have delivery trucks and buses which could block resident's access."

Presenting a report at the February monthly ordinary meeting, engineering and infrastructure director, Rob Scott said council had received a number of requests from Charlotte Bay Street residents and business operators for improvements to traffic arrangements.

Mr Scott said the most significant issue was the illegal use of the bus-only lane to gain access onto The Lakes Way.

He said the closure in July 2019 had since cause major traffic congestion and difficulty for long vehicles which had been forced to do a u-turns.

"There has been a strong push from some residents and patrons of the businesses to have the northern access reopened to general traffic.

"Also, the current arrangement for the school bus which undertakes a reversing manoeuvre on Charlotte Bay Street to return to The Lakes Way is undesirable and an alternative arrangement is required in the longer term."

However, Troy Fowler said there were more issues 'going out there in Charlotte Bay'.

"We closed it for a reason," he said.

"It has been a bug-bear to council for many years," Karen Hutchinson said.

"Will this be a solution for the area or will it be a bandaid fix?

"I would like to see that road un-closed; there are problems down there and I think it will work itself out."

Also from this month's council meeting:

Kathryn Bell said she didn't believe an on-site inspection would be beneficial.

"We have all the information we need.

"It just needs to be re-accessed."

She believed the road should be one-way, traffic allowed to enter and exit at both the southern and northern entrances and closed in the middle.
