I have lived in Forster for the past 21 years and It never ceases to amaze me, the stupidity of the genius that designed the Head Street traffic area.
Heading north over the bridge from Forster side to Tuncurry, to have a pedestrian traffic light just before a major roundabout and then another pedestrian traffic light before another roundabout, is pure genius.
The amount of time the traffic is stopped because of these is ridiculous.
Why wouldn't you just make the big roundabout on the corner of Beach and Head streets traffic lights and do away with the two pedestrian ones, would make greater sense.
All this of course runs into a two lane bridge, which badly needs updating to a four lane bridge, if traffic is ever to improve in Forster.
Two weeks ago, I was in traffic back to McIntosh Street, which turns into Head Street.
Over in Tuncurry is not much better.
It's slightly easier coming off the bridge (once you get on it) heading north than coming back to the Forster side.
Coming into town, you are met with a roundabout and then traffic lights on the intersection of Manning and South streets.
Just after this, is another pedestrian traffic light, which always seems to turn red when the other is green.
All of course merging into a single lane over the bridge.
Surely something can be done about this ridiculous set up.
Again, I would like to congratulate the genius who came up with this concept.
