"We're very happy with the turnout," co-event director Christine Woodhouse said.
"We had about 155 participants, which is awesome for New Year's Day."
With plenty of holiday-makers joining in, Ms Woodhouse said the number of participants nearly doubled their usual Saturday turnout, with a good mix of people taking part.
"We had people out pushing their prams, plenty of puppy dogs, lots of young kids," she said.
The weather came to the party too, with January's usually steamy conditions replaced by a milder start to the year.
"It was overcast and a little bit on the cool side, which was the perfect conditions to have the run," Ms Woodhouse said.

Kicking off at 8am from Pebbly Beach, participants completed a five-kilometre course - the same distance as all Parkrun courses around the world.
Ms Woodhouse said the fact that Parkrun was a worldwide organisation gave it a widespread appeal.
"It brings people to the town because of its worldwide reach," she said.
"It's very social and it's all about improving your fitness."
And while a run hadn't been scheduled for next New Year's Day, Ms Woodhouse said it would be great to do it again.
"It depends on the volunteers," she said.
"Parkrun is not run unless we have volunteers.
"But ideally it'd be nice to do it again on New Year's."
