Edgewater Shores is setting the benchmark in sustainability along the mid north coast as the first residential development to achieve EnviroDevelopment's 6 Leaf sustainability certification.
Development director Joe Coco said that this meant the development's impact on the local environment would be reduced, at the same time inputting recycled materials and methodologies into the product's delivery chain.
One example is the use of Replas EnduroPlank on the dedicated beach access and viewing platforms.
"Replas EnduroPlank is an Australian made recycled plastic decking product that is highly suited to marine environments," Joe said.
The ability to develop a place where people can call home within this environment will always mean the project is a success,
- Development director Joe Coco.
Edgewater Shores is unique with a close proximity to the beach as well as the broader natural environment.
In total, the development will comprise of 98 blocks with Stages 1 and 2 completed in April 2018 and due to strong demand, the beginnings of Stages 3 and 4 in October 2019.
The roads were sealed the week before the Christmas break and it is expected that these final stages will be completed in February 2020.
"From Forster to Port Macquarie and inland to Barrington Tops presents some of the most idyllic areas in Australia," said Joe.
"The ability to develop a place where people can call home within this environment will always mean the project is a success.
"The biggest challenge is actually getting people to take the step to visit the site. Once people come down, they are typically in awe of Diamond Beach and its surrounds."
With the local primary school next door, Edgewater Shores is a natural choice for young families looking for a sea change.
Given the lifestyle choices around the beach and local waterways, Joe said it is also popular with downsizers from Sydney and the regional centres of Forster and Taree.
It is an easy commute for people working in these regional centres.
"Young families can drop their children to school, go to work in 20 minutes and still have all the benefits of living on the beach."
