This isn't some remote community in central Africa but Taree, Forster and Gloucester.
No water... if you think not watering your gardens is tough, wait till your taps run dry inside you houses.
Alarmist?
Maybe, but quite possible nonetheless.
Why is there no outrage from we residents about this?
The rain we need now is of cyclonic proportions to fill the Manning catchment, which is highly unlikely in the middle of this drought.
Yet not one word about this emergency has been uttered by Federal MP Gillespie, State MP Bromhead or mayor West as to what exactly we will be doing at the end of January.
When the taps run dry, will we be lining up behind water tankers or at hydrants with our buckets?
Again, not so far fetched.
So for all you suffering from terminal complacency and putting blind faith in these National Party politicians at every election, ask yourselves when can we expect some serious water infrastructure for this part of Australia including a new water treatment plant much further downstream so we 90,000 residents, that is, all of us, can have some faith in our water supply on the Mid North Coast.
Given the nature of all levels of politics in Australia at present, all we can expect I imagine are more prayers and thoughts as we received during the bushfires recently.
