The program is a great way for families with young children to maintain reading levels, further develop literacy skills and promote a love of reading, during the school holidays.
It also gives participants an appreciation for the library and is a great way to get the whole family reading together.
Children of all ages are welcome to visit the MidCoast Council Libraries website and register online from today.
They can then pick up a reading club challenge pack from their local library and start their Summer Reading Club journey.
Members who complete reading club challenges, including keeping a daily reading calendar, visiting the library and other creative activities, are entered into prize draws.
There will also be finale parties at Taree and Forster libraries at the culmination of this year's Summer Reading Club in January.
"We've teamed up with Mission Australia Communities for Children for this year's event, another great team who really understand the importance of promoting reading from a young age," MidCoast Council Libraries manager, Chris Jones said.
Early literacy is so important to help children reach milestones and achieve outcomes throughout life and we encourage all parents to support their children to be involved.
