MidCoast Council recently completed the installation of shade structures over playgrounds at Palmgrove Park in Forster and Lone Pine Park in Tuncurry after initial work began in September.
The work was financed through a $550,000 NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund grant.

MidCoast Council liveable communities director Paul De Szell announced in August that work would begin on the project, after securing the grant on behalf of the community.
"The community has been calling for shade protection on playgrounds across the Mid Coast region," Mr De Szell said.
"We have listened and are pleased to be partnering with the NSW Government in delivering welcome relief from the summer sun over our playground equipment."
The work was completed with minimal disruption to playground users.
