Essential Energy is working to restore power to customers in the Possum Brush and Failford areas.
However, at this stage it down not have a timeframe for restoration.
Approximately 1500 homes and businesses in parts of Possum Brush, Failford, Wingham and surrounding areas had their power interrupted this afternoon due to the bushfires in the area.
Crews have been able to restore power to majority of customers in Wingham but are unable to safety access the electrical network for power to restored to customers in Possum Brush and Failford, a spokesperson said.
"Essential Energy is working closely with emergency services to ensure their safety and the safety of the public and reminds the public to stay at least eight metres away from any damaged powerlines or electrical equipment and contact 132080 to report.
EARLIER:
Essential Energy crews have been notified following an unplanned power outage in an area extending from Failford to Possum Brush and up to Talawahl.
More than 270 customers have been affected by the outage, as a result of bushfires in the area.
The power company has been forced to de-energise due to the fires - however that is to be confirmed, a spokesperson said.
The power went down just before 2pm this afternoon.
