"We're looking at a record crowd, I reckon," he said.
"There are buses coming from Newcastle. People just love it."
Legendary Australian race caller Johnny Tapp will be the guest of honour on the day and Mr McQuillan said there was considerable anticipation about him coming.
With a career spanning more than 30 years, he has been described as 'the voice of Australian racing to a whole generation.'
"So many people have asked about him," Mr McQuillan said.
"There's a buzz about him coming."
Eight races are scheduled for the day, with the last two races - the 2200m XXXX Gold Cup and the 1200m Evermore Pearl - set to feature as the day's major races.
The club has invested in a number of upgrades this year and Mr McQuillan said the course is in excellent condition, with new running rails recently installed and the track being maintained well throughout winter.
"The track looks terrific," he said.
"It will be a good four on race day."
Buses will be running from Wingham, Taree, Black Head, Smiths Lake and Forster Tuncurry and the gates open at 11:30am.
