The team has been acknowledged with the Most Outstanding Personalised Support Service Team in Australasia award.
This was the second year the Enablement Awards have been held as a way to celebrate and reward excellence, innovation and exemplary achievements in the disability care sector, and the first time MidCoast Assist has been recognised.
Previously known as Great Lakes Ageing and Disability Services, MidCoast Assist is an ageing and disability support service run by MidCoast Council.
We have such incredible, passionate, supportive staff and volunteers who are really making a difference in people's lives and they deserve this recognition.
- Paul De Szell
"To be acknowledged with this particular award speaks volumes about who we are and what makes us different," MidCoast Council liveable communities director, Paul De Szell said.
"We have such incredible, passionate, supportive staff and volunteers who are really making a difference in people's lives and they deserve this recognition."
The awards were created by the NDIS Update news media platform to recognise efforts to advance outcomes for all participants and to reward those who lift and enhance the customer's experience and overall enjoyment.
Nominated for the award by an unknown third party, the team extended their thanks to the anonymous supporter for putting the organisation forward for the accolade.
The nominations were judged by the NDIS Update editor, who had been involved in the sector for more than 30 years, while the decision making process was assisted by independent assessments of the nominees.

The awards' philosophy was to focus on performance with evaluation qualities including most meritorious performance, most innovative, courageous or positive initiative.
"We are honoured to receive this award and it's really important for our team to be able to take a step back and celebrate our achievements."
