Run by not-for-profit organisation Let's Play Bowls, the initiative aims to get more school students playing the sport.
Started in the Hunter region in 2015, participation has grown considerably over the past few years, with competitions running in a number of regions around NSW.
Open to students from government, non-government and catholic schools, the competitions are run from a host bowling club in each region who are responsible for the competition structure and also provide coaching and training to the students.

Coordinator for the initiative, Warren Boyd, said the feedback from the players, parents and teachers who'd been involved in the competitions so far had been great.
"We introduced lawn bowls as a primary sport last year and the 13 school teams that took part thought the competition we ran was fantastic," he said.
"This year we are trying to get parents involved as managers, with the competition designed to be an after-school activity."
Mr Boyd encouraged interested parents to form teams of three, contact their local bowling club for coaching and submit their entries by Friday, September 27.
