Held over four days from August 2 to 5, the annual event attracted 304 competitors, with players travelling from as far as Victoria, Queensland and the ACT to take part.
Event organiser Brian Adams said the tournament was enjoyed by all and despite some worrying forecasts, the weather was more than cooperative.
"It was lovely weather," he said.
"Everybody seemed quite happy."
A nationally-ranked tournament, Mr Adams said the level of competition was very high but the event still maintained its enjoyable social atmosphere.
Matches were played at Forster Tennis Club, Twin Towns Tennis Club, Tuncurry and Sporties Tuncurry.
Stand-outs included tournament first-timer Michael Brown, who travelled up from Shell Cove for the over-45 men's singles event and moved through the draw without dropping a game.
The event's oldest competitor, 86-year-old Claude Wenzel, also enjoyed success, proving age was no barrier as he combined with his partner to win the 140-years mixed doubles event.
Stand-outs from the Great Lakes included Craig Bullivant, Kim Armstrong and Margaret Wayte.
Bullivant took out the combined 70-years mixed doubles with partner Yvonne Stanton; Armstrong won pool two of the 35-45 years ladies doubles with partner Anabel Caulkin; and Wayte was triumphant in the combined 65-75 years ladies doubles.
Mr Adams said all in all it was a great year for the tournament, with plenty of competitors indicating it would remain popular.
"There were a lot of people coming up saying see you next year so that's a good sign," he said.
"It's serious but it's good fun as well."
