Keen to introduce these folk to the community Friends of the Great Lakes Library Service (FOGLLS) is once again holding a Fascinating Folks event.
Now in its fourth year, Fascinating Folks captures the quirky side of life as guest speakers explain in one afternoon their passions, life interests or interesting careers.
There's also a fantastic afternoon tea spread put on by the legendary FOGLLS team, where you can linger, meet new people and put more questions to the speakers.
Fascinating Folks kicks off sweetly this year on Saturday, August 10 with MidCoast Council councillor, Claire Pontin, who is going to speak about bee keeping.
Bee-keeping is a hobby taking off in Australia.
Apart from the chance to make money from honey production, there's the satisfaction of helping out the environment, and the pride of becoming a primary producer in your own backyard.
Following Claire, Rebecca Harper will talk about being a narrator for audio books.
The connection between these topics?
The first book Rebecca read was about bee keeping.
And in a grand finale, Robyn and Keith Pascoe will be telling us everything we ever wanted to know about alpaca farming.
As far as we are aware, alpaca farming has absolutely no connection with narrating audio books or bee keeping.
Bookings for this afternoon of fun are required.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Forster library.
Proceeds support library programs, events and resources.
