The refurbishment, which signals stage one of the Forster Main Beach Masterplan, will begin on Monday, August 12.
Work will include an upgrade to toilets, change rooms, showers and the barbecue shelter, and follows extensive consultation with the community
"We are aware that this very popular area requires careful management during works, so we have planned to complete the work in two stages over the next six months," MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
"We're also planning to keep the Ocean Baths open for swimming and the barbecue shelter accessible and available right through this period."
Toilets, showers, change rooms and surrounding area will be fenced off and closed, however temporary toilets will be available on site.
Work will continue through the October school holidays, with stage one - the completion of new showers, change rooms and toilet block - planned to open in time for the busy Christmas holidays.
Following the January 2020 school holidays work will begin to demolish the old barbecue shelter and rebuild a new shelter.

The project is being funded through a $200,000 NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities grant and $250,000 from MidCoast Council.
"This is a very exciting project for our community.
"The existing amenities are aged and the much-loved ocean baths will be transformed by this project."
