"I always wanted to write a children's picture book so I began to put together a story how, as young children, we all dream of becoming so many things and sometimes what we as adults may later become all stems from what our young minds once dreamt about," Shane said.
The inspiration for Skylah Dreams began back in 2015 following the birth of his daughter, who also happened to be named Skylah.
Skylah Dreams, the first instalment of Shane's series, is the story of a little girl who dreams of all the things she would like to be when she grows up.
From this Monday, August 5 Shane will host a series of Storytime events at MidCoast Libraries throughout the Great Lakes, reading from his recently released book.
"We just love our Storytime events across the Mid Coast and to have a local author with us to read his very own book to the children, is really special," MidCoast Council Libraries manager, Chris Jones said.
"These events are a great opportunity for the children and their parents and carers to meet the author and listen to the book being read, exactly as it was intended to be."
Not only is Shane a published author, he also is a full-time entertainer, performing in various shows at venues throughout Australia and on as cruise ships.
Shane will head to a number of Storytime events across the Great Lakes including:
- Tea Gardens library on Monday, August 5 from 9.30-10.30am;
- Hallidays Point library on Friday, August 16 from 10.30-11.30am;
- Forster library on Wednesday, August 21 from 10.30-11.30am, and
- Stroud library on Friday, August 23 from 10.30-11.30am
Bookings are not required and everyone is welcome to attend.
