Professional and amateur photographers gathered to see whose snaps had won the top prizes.
Joining the competitors were family, friends and art lovers for an evening which included a run down on how judge Stephen Barry chose his favourite photographs.
The competition, run by Gloucester Arts and Cultural Committee Inc (GACCI), offers a wide range of categories for keen photographers to choose from.
It is open to adults and juniors.
Competition organiser, Chris Steele, said it was another excellent opening night for Pix from the Stix.
"We have some high-quality photos produced by our talented local photographers," Chris said.
"It is worth making the effort to get to the gallery to check out the talent on show."
